Thursday December 5th, 6:15pm – Art narations conference – Rome and the Passionate Baroque
The Eternal city is the cradle of the grand passionate style of Counter Reformation Art and the renewed vigor of the Papacy was highly important to its development as a theatrical and monumental location. Nearly all the great Baroque artists came from different cities in Italy (Caravaggio from Milan, Bernini from Naples, Guercino from Cento…), yet Rome would influence them all and they were to transform her forever.
Painting and Sculpture, flesh and pathos, drama and extreme realism; see them all in these great expressive artists.
