Sunday 8 November 2026, Exhibition I BRUEGHEL – Palazzo Reale, Milan

The Royal Palace hosts the first major exhibition in Italy dedicated to one of the most influential artistic dynasties of the European Renaissance: the Brueghels. 

Entitled “The Brueghels: The Origins of Pictorial Genres in Europe”, the exhibition will take visitors on a historical and artistic journey through over 80 works, including paintings, drawings, and prints. This will allow them to discover the ‘dynasty’ of painters who made a decisive contribution to the emergence of future ‘pictorial genres’ in the Netherlands, Italy, and the rest of Europe. From snow-covered landscapes to storms, from still lifes to peasant life and on to battle scenes, the system of pictorial genres would shape modern European painting as we know it today.
